Use Facebook to Raise Money for Friends of Chimps!
So you’ve seen your friends host fundraisers on their personal Facebook pages and if you’ve ever wondered how they do it, this post shows you how in four simple steps! It’s free to you and since Friends of Chimps is a registered charity on Facebook, they waive all the fees! That means 100% of the money you raise for the chimps, goes to the chimps. Pretty cool, right?
You can do it anytime, but it can be helpful to do it around an event like Giving Tuesday (the Tuesday after Thanksgiving). Your birthday is always a good one too! Thanks so much, your support really means a lot to us & the chimps!
STEP 1: Go to your Facebook page and write a post about why you’re raising money for Friends of Chimps. You can even use this sample:
Hi Everyone! As most of you know, I’m a big animal lover and this Saturday is the first ever #WorldChimpanzeeDay to celebrate our closest animal cousin! They are also endangered and their numbers are declining in the wild so I’m raising money for the non-profit, Friends of Chimps! They are a small, mostly volunteer organization dedicated to the welfare and conservation of chimpanzees worldwide. I’d be so grateful if you’d support my fundraiser today! And if you can’t donate, please share!
STEP 2: Once you’ve written your post, click on the button with the 3 dots (circled in red in this picture):
STEP 3: From the list of options, click on: Support Non-Profit (circled in red in picture):
STEP 4: Finally, search for us by typing: Friends of Chimps in the search line (circled in red) and click on it when it comes up in the list like in the picture:
You’re all set! Facebook will automatically add a banner that says you are raising money for Friends of Chimps and your friends will just click on that to donate. If you have any problems or questions, they offer detailed instructions on Facebook HERE. And here’s a couple of great chimps pictures you can download to include with your post. Happy Fundraising!
